Our story captures the attraction, the pull—the energy—the possibilities of pairing two seemingly opposite things together in one expression by the &. The & does not negate the power of either entity. This is not a dilution or a distillation. In contrast to the minimalization of compartmentalization, the separating and negating of concepts with “either this or that” thinking, the flow the logogram & creates is the power and potential of joining paradoxes to generate innovative new ideas, and bold approaches to our changing world.

BUBBLE
We use the word Bubble to identify our own personalized space in a crowded world—my bubble, my rules. In that world people, problems and ideas can be neatly assigned to easily identifiable categories. But we also experience the age-old desires for the feeling of belonging, identity, team—a desire to interact, find community. As humans, we walk the line of desiring to stand out from the pack, while also longing to be included, invited, part of a tribe.
Bubble reflects an obscured future featuring muted hues that appear to be veiled. This color group evokes an oxy moronic mood that appears skeptical at first glance, and optimistic after further evaluation, containing light-reflecting effects signifying the current need to be seen, or the need to find the truth in uncertain times.
AI and VR have infiltrated our daily lives. This blue suggest the calming nature we desire. However, its strong red cast says life has changed and technology is imbedded in our lives. Privacy is a chromatic clean blue that shifts red on the flop using SpectraFlair 1500-20 as a hidden surprise.
The more social media evolves into a source for news, the lines between opinion and fact may become blurred as our embedded biases insulate us in an echo chamber.
Fluid is the 2020 "it” color. From runways to interiors we are seeing a growing interest in this gender neutral color option. Fluid is a desaturated green that shifts to a warm flop using ChromaFlair Silver/Blue 160.
BUBBLE
As the decade closes and a new one opens, people opine that ubiquitous social media has exacerbated feelings of depression and anxiety, as users feel both more connected & more alone. A culture of narcissism, a focus on individualism like a double-edged sword increases feelings of loneliness, which may explain the current rise in anxiety disorders and increased incidents of rage. Archaic tribalism and existing in the bubble of one’s own echo chamber exacerbates these negative emotions—so that people become neatly folded into easy categories to ascertain the us versus the them. In this confusing age we might question—what happened to my world?
“In infinite time, in infinite matter, in infinite space, is formed a bubble organism, and that bubble lasts a while and bursts, and that bubble is Me.” –Leo Tolstoy, Writer
We can evolve to use Social Media purposefully. Mindfulness practices and media-free zones offer opportunities to truly connect, relax, recover, and rest without distractions that can block real communication.
As a society we have become aware of how clean air plays a role in health. We are innovating clean air initiatives but have a long way to go hence the smoky quality to the color Isolation. A desaturated silver-blue using ChromaFlair Cyan/Blue 225.
We are comforted by items that show natural age, things that remind us of family heirlooms connecting us to happier times. Heritage is a bronze with a slight rose tint using ChromaFlair Red/Gold 000.
On the other side of the Bubble, Social Media can forge connections, opening a world of intersectionality.
History reminds us that bubbles can and do burst. Economists theorize that there are waves of crisis, but then there are periods of reinvention where new and great transformations happen, and innovations are born.
Much like an audible echo, grey is a neutral color that reflects its surroundings. Echo is an optimistic dark grey metallic enhanced with a prismatic effect from the addition of SpectraFlair 1500-20.

"Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.” -Ruth Reichl, Chef
In this era savvy patrons continue to desire more and more information about the food they buy—where it was grown, what are the conditions of the soil, or what sustainable farming practices are employed. Restaurants are reacting by providing more narrative, not just about the presentation of the dishes, but their sourcing as well. These movements toward healthy eating also appeal to consumers wishing to support environmental changes, as the American Journal on Clinical Nutrition 2019 reports that people with the lowest dietary carbon footprints are those who are eating a healthier diet and eschewing red meat.
As much as we say we are eating healthy we still occasionally escape life's pressures by eating less than healthy foods. #3 is an artificial play on coral. #3 is a solid first read and slight sparkle second using SpectraFlair Bright Silver.

The natural food-sourced bright hues found in sweet potatoes, blueberries, and beets are rediscovered options for chemical-free colorants as consumers request alternatives to additives like Red Dye #3.

Finnish scientists are literally creating food out of air with Solein, a protein powder comprised of CO2, electricity, and water, which is manufactured in a carbon-neutral environment, and is poised to debut in 2021. Solein is, according to scientists, “free of agricultural limitations.”
3D Food Printing can be used to convert alternative ingredients, such as proteins from algae, beet leaves, or insects into delicious food, even tailoring your sushi to your individual nutritional needs.
The end of 2019 saw the explosion of plant based 'meat' from Impossible Foods and Beyond Meats. Although entirely based on plant matter, the patty is highly engineered to look, taste and even bleed like real meat raising the question—is its popularity based on healthy eating or curiosity?
MyCoWorks produce sustainable products and apparel from fungi. Featured here are mycelium-based bricks.
Those diners seeking more cutting-edge experiences may dabble in streaming Mukbang videos, a trend which originated in South Korea in 2010 as a way to dine with others in a shared experience, since so many people dined solo. Now Mukbang is finding its way to mainstream pop culture, and has evolved to include Mukbang challenges and immerging Mukbang influencer personalities. Is this food trend gourmet or gourmand?

RITUAL
As travelers through this modern era, we continually seek to understand our world, and grapple to make sense of the complex systems we encounter all around us. The Color Collection Ritual explores the turning away from the old, dogmatic, organized assemblies, bringing transference to a new spiritualism. Ritual expresses this sense of old ways giving rise to new rites that are emerging from our basic pilgrimage to find meaning in the world and understand our place in it.
RITUAL
Sociologists suggest ritual phenomenon may touch a deep subconscious place.
#UNBOXING HAS OVER A MILLION POSTS ON INSTAGRAM AND OVER MILLION VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE.

Ritual is inspired by the rediscovery and re-embracing of alternative or ancient practices, such as the sacred geometry arising from nature, Raetic runes, horoscopes, tarot cards, tattoos, meditation. Tattoo art nods to the Fibonacci spirals as the basis for ink art, underscoring the beliefs that this sacred geometry can heal, restore vitality and health, and provide balance.
Truth is a calming, reaffirming medium blue with slight purple flop using ChromaFlair Cyan/Purple 230.
Ritual color trends maintain the embrace of blues, representing mindfulness, clarity, water, as calming, softening, and centering touch points. Red and black trend strongly as introspective, meditative colors.
Mystic is a moody, dark, almost black color with deep red highlights created by the use of ChromaFlair Black/Red 045.
In 2020, people are searching for cosmologies that are more expansive and align with our broad swaths of available information. What remains unchanged is our need for ritual, so even our habits become imbued with a type of spirituality—a touch point—in response to the unpredictability of our present world.
Mantra combines calming blue with nature's green to offer a new chromatic option. High sparkle teal with dark flop using ChromaFlair Cyan/Blue 225.
Modern-day rituals augment or supplant traditional ceremonies, as people strive to build and maintain community through spiritual and physical connections. The concept of Ritual has been broadened to encompass routines or habits. Practicing yoga and meditation become mainstays for many daily and weekly routines to create and maintain a sense of calmness. Group exercise such as Spin Class, Boot Camps and CrossFit build community. Volunteering at a local homeless shelter or food bank during a holiday allows the opportunity to give back and feel connected to something larger than just oneself. “Unboxing” videos represent a longing for a type of modern communion, as millions of viewers simply watch others open a box and unpack the contents.
Skepticism, uncertainty and frustration are the driving force behind Black Cat. A low gloss black with mysterious blue sparkle originating from ChromaFlair Cyan/Blue 225.
Red is an emotionally charged color that can connote anger, fear, war or passion and love. Courage is a high chroma energetic red with dark flop using ChromaFlair Red/Gold 000.
Even our use of technology involves ritual. One cannot help but think of Steve Jobs as a tech ‘guru’ who inspired a passionate following. His legacy of innovation sparked modern rituals-now people congregate on Social Media, anticipating the launch of the latest must-have device, while users wait months, camping out to get in line for a chance to participate in “Release Events” celebrating the latest iPhone.
Our quest for meaning continues, even if we leave old-world organizations behind. Rituals augment our modern life, integrating everyday activities with possibility as we seek to balance the material and metaphysical worlds.

IMMORTAL
Literature and art abound with examples of our fascination with death, and our quest to outsmart it. Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang took mercury pills, Ponce de Leon searched for a magic spring whose waters promised eternal youth. Egyptians preserved their bodies to safeguard passage to the next life. Modern practices such as cryogenics, offer the hope to stop time—allowing patients to pause—holding over until a treatment for an impending ailment is available.
IMMORTAL
“Aging is a universal phenomenon that gives life shape, direction, urgency, and meaning.” - Louise Aronson
"The only thing wrong with immortality is that it tends to go on forever.” - Herb Caen, Columnist
Holistic practices to avoid, or supplement, synthetic medicine grow in popularity. Options including reiki treatments, cupping as well as herbal and traditional Chinese medicine offer an organic approach.

The concept of Virternity would allow humans to transfer their consciousness into a virtual realm, a wholly immersive endeavor to replace physical reality with a purely digital one, actually presenting a form of immortality.
Parabiotic treatments carry a hefty price tag while offering to infuse young blood to regain vitality. New technologies are concentrated on repairing and augmenting cells to repair DNA directly using CRISPR or other gene-editing technologies.
Eternal is a new take on white with a technological twist using SpectraFlair 1500-20.
We ponder the question—what makes us as humans unique? Helix is a warm desaturated beige that shifts neutral with the addition of ChromaFlair Blue/Red 280.
Technology not only looks forward, but also avails opportunities to visit the past. MIT Technology Review estimates that 26 million or more people have taken a genetic ancestry test, and those numbers are predicted to grow as companies promise to identify genetic information, to target health markers, even to garner food and diet recommendations based on cultural histories. Ethical considerations loom on the horizon, centering around who controls our genetic data.
